چکیده

Polyoxometalates (POMs) are inorganic clusters that possess potential anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-tumor activities. Herein, the in vitro anti-proliferation activities of K12[V18O42(H₂O)]∙6H₂O (V18) have been investigated on the MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cell lines. The results indicated that V18 could inhibit the proliferation of MCF-7 (IC50, 11.95 μM at 48 h) in a dose-dependent manner compared to the positive control, 5-fluorouracil (5-Fu, p < 0.05). The anti-proliferation activity of V18 might be mediated by arrest of the MCF-7 cells in the G₂/M phase and induction of apoptosis and necrosis. Moreover, V18 can effectively quench the fluorescence of ctDNA. The binding mode between them may be groove or outside stacking binding. V18 can also effectively quench the intrinsic fluorescence of bovine serum albumin (BSA) and human serum albumin (HSA) via static quenching, and changed the conformation of BSA and HSA.

Transcriptional effects of Organochlorine o,p′-DDT and its Metabolite p,p′-DDE in Transfected MDA-MB 231 and MCF-7 Breast Cancer Cell Lines

Background: The organochlorine DDT has estrogenic activity but the mechanism underlying the estrogenic activity of this pesticide remains unclear. In the present investigation here, we studied the transcriptional effects of a synthetic organochlorine pesticide o,p’-DDT [1.1.1.-trichloro-2-(o-chlorophenyl)-2-p-chloriphenyl ethane] and its metabolite p,p'-DDE (2-2-bis(4/chlorophenyl)-1-1-di...

MiR-6165 Dysregulation in Breast Cancer and Its Effect on Cell Proliferation and Migration

Background: ncRNAs have been identified as oncogenic drivers and tumor suppressors in any type of cancer. Although many classes of ncRNAs have been reported, most studies have been performed on microRNAs (miRNAs). miRNAs can regulate several target genes and affect important processes such as homeostasis, angiogenesis, cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Located in the p75NTR ge...

Antiproliferative effects of flavonoid fractions from Calendula officinalis flowers in parent and tamoxifen resistant T47D human breast cancer cells

The risk of human breast cancer is concerned to cumulative exposure of the breast cells to endogenous estrogens. Strategies aiming at reducing the production of estrogens may be useful for the prevention of estrogens-related breast cancer. Several natural products with plant origin have the potential value as chemo-preventive or therapeutic agents in cancer. Flavonoids, the natural polyphenol c...

Gnidilatimonoein from Daphne mucronata inhibits DNA synthesis in human cancer cell lines

The anticancer agents from plant sources usually exert their action through a wide range of mechanisms. As part of our studies of plants for new anticancer agents with emphasis on Thymelaeaceae family, we examined the cytotoxicity and anti-tumor activity of the water extract of D. mucronata leaves against induced breast tumor in rats. In the current study, we were interested to obtain some know...
